My son was diagnosed with autism in 2018. I was a mother in disbelief. I didn't want to believe that my son was different from other kids. I tried everything I could to prove that my son was not autistic. I soon began to accept it and got my son the proper care that he needed and deserved. I was not embarrassed by his condition but more so offended by how others reacted to him. He was not able to communicate verbally so he growled and made really weird noises when people would speak with him and they would question why. It became an anxiety thing for me as well with taking him into public because I didn't want the constant questions about his behavior. I wished that there was a way I could avoid those questions and conversations about why my son acts different from others. In 2019 I began to make him shirts with sayings that represented that he has autism and was different in a cool way. In 2020, I came up with a bright idea to have a clothing line for autistic kids. It would express how they may feel or even just be cool looking. I hope to make this clothing line a national identification that this child is different and to be compassionate but also be cautious.
